Having a pond isn’t always the first outdoor feature that comes to the mind when one thinks of improving their outdoors. Since space is usually a factor in making homeowners think a pond is out of their outdoor picture, here’s how you can have it in your backyard without having to dig it all up for a pond.
Pick a pot.
Pick a sturdy pot to act as the main water vessel for your pot. Then pick a much more flamboyant exterior pot. The interior pot will hold the water while the exterior pot will hold the interest for the onlooker.
Pick a spot.
You can have it in the center as the main attraction, in the midst of your garden plots or even on the center gardening table. You can also have it submerged to create a pond-like look and feel or have it standing proudly in your backyard.
Pick a plant.
Aquatic plants which you only saw in large botanical gardens can now have a home in your own backyard. There are those which float and those which still need to be potted while in your pond-in-a-pot. Aside from the usual floaters like water hyacinth, you can also plant an American lotus or a banana lily.
Pick away the pests.
Another deterring factor from having a pond is its tendency to attract pests like mosquitoes. To deter it from making your pond its home, put in a mosquito-repellent which is specifically manufactured for ponds.
Now, you know how a pond can fit in a pot and in your yard without ever having to allot a huge space for it. Just make sure to maintain it properly by regularly changing the water and no sooner will you have a gleaming pond you can be proud of.
